Level 1 Guided Hiking Trips
Our level 1 guided hiking trips are designed with beginners in mind. The hike will usually go over well maintained and groomed trails suitable for beginners. We will provide a safety discussion before we start the hike and talk about the basics like footwear, proper socks, hydration which is an issue due to altitude acclimation and physical exertion, possible wildlife encounters, and how to prepare for inclimate weather. Scot’s guides will advise you on the essential gear for your first introduction to hiking. This will include comfortable clothing, shoes or boots, sun protection (sunscreen, hats, and UPF rated clothing) and hydration options like water bottles or bladders.
We encourage you to ask as many questions as you need to ensure you feel comfortable and confident before and while we are on the hike. Our guides understand that beginners may have varying levels of comfort and stamina. Itineraries are often flexible, allowing for adjustments based on the group’s needs and preferences. Don’t worry if you need any equipment or clothing to ensure you enjoy your guided hiking trip Scot’s Sporting Goods has everything you need in stock.

Level 2 Guided Hiking Trips
Scot’s level 2 intermediate guided hiking trips will have a blend of challenging terrain and breath-taking scenery. Trails will wind through diverse landscapes from forest, alpine meadows, and rock formations. You can expect steeper inclines and rocky sections as the goal is to push your limits with a more demanding experience. Our intermediate hikes will cover more ground with longer distances and higher elevation gains.
At this level a new layer of complexity occurs due to the thinner air and acclimatization becomes important for this type of hike. The payoff for the challenging terrain and altitudes is often wildlife encounters and secluded viewpoints. More advanced equipment may be required for the longer hikes such as trekking poles, and additional weather layers. Scot’s Sporting goods has everything you need from day packs and water bladders, to wind and rain gear that is lightweight and designed for the advanced hiker.
